The peak of fall foliage. A small chapel that only operates during the summer. Laura, Alastair, and 30 some of their closest friends and family. This wedding was perfection! Laura and I had been corresponding for the past few months and I knew right away that we would click!!
Laura and Alastair met in South Africa and fell in love. While planning the wedding, they decided to get married near her family’s property in Highlands, NC. This house had been in her family since her grandma was about 10 years old and was a place where they would all gather. I knew then that family was so important to them both! They rented a few extra houses and made a whole weekend of it!
They were married at the quaint Summer Chapel in the morning and had a tent set up across the road. After partying and photos on the family property, the crew drove down to Atlanta (where Laura calls home) for an evening reception.
Alastair’s family comes from the Lamont Clan in Scotland. They included many details to honor his family’s history including using the family tartan (the pattern on the cloth) and a pin with the family crest on it.
How amazing are these shoes? Laura’s friend took a pair of tan shoes, added lace, painted them, and added the Tartan onto the zippers on the side! I never in a million years would have guessed hat the shoes didn’t come like this!
I think Alastair’s reaction is the SWEETEST I have ever seen! During the rehearsal, Laura and her father were practicing walking slowly and were doing quite well… So much so that between the two photos above, Alastair exclaimed, “Hurry up, already!”
We were even able to capture a photo of the whole Highlands crew before they headed out to Atlanta.
Many congratulations on your beautiful wedding day, Laura & Alastair!
